The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation provides Dissertation Grants of up to $20,0000 for students who have participated in the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program (MMUF). Eligibility for the award is based on enrollment in an MMUF-recognized Ph.D. program and completion of a comprehensive examination, coursework, dissertation research and fieldwork, and faculty supervisor approval of the dissertation topic. Applications must include a prospectus, dissertation chapter draft, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, budget, declaration of previous awards and academic transcripts. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.


National Science Foundation: SBE Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants


The National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants provide funding to students finishing a doctoral degree to aid in the completion of their dissertation research. The funding covers areas not normally covered by a candidate's academic institution by supporting off-campus field-based research and large-scale data analysis. Eligibility for the grants is based on the scientific contribution and importance of the research, and the appropriateness of the proposed research methods. Application dates vary depending on the grant program applied for.
