U S Army Medical Colleges

Students who pay their own way through these colleges or who receive scholarships from sources not affiliated with the U.S. military do not incur service obligations. Generally, the U.S. military requires an 8-year service obligation upon receipt of a four-year scholarship; four years must be served on active duty status and four years must be served in the Independent Ready Reserve. Students who don't complete their degree program or those who graduate with an insufficient grade point average may be required to repay their scholarship.


Considerations


Students with associate's degrees who are entering a reserve component must complete a bachelor's degree by the time they reach the rank of captain. Failure to meet the bachelor's degree requirement renders lieutenants ineligible for promotion to captain.
